UGT has indicated that the proposed Multi-annual Budget of the European Union for the period 2021-2027 is " unbalanced " and leaves a hole of 15,000 million euros.
For the organization led by Pepe Álvarez, these public community accounts, the first since leaving the United Kingdom, are "unfair" because they prioritize spending on security and defense against the reduction of aid to agricultural policy, rural development or cohesion funds, where the European social fund is included.
"The Budget does not correspond to the political priorities that the European Union continually defends, issues as important as the depopulation of rural areas, or the European Pillar of Social Rights," the union pointed out.
UGT also denounces that the Commission proposes a cut of around 5% to the subsidies of the common agricultural policy (CAP) and a reduction of 4% to direct payments. Thus, these two items, which currently account for 70% of the budget, would go to 60%.
